Mapping:
Finding and Mapping Medicine or Food Sources
Goal
Learners will be able to create their own maps of their lands, and create a legend and icons using Sketchnoting to inform their learning.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to:
- Sketch-note
- Create a map of their topography
- Create a legend and icons for medicines or food sources of the area
Prior Knowledge & Learner Profile
The learners are advanced beginner language learners, or in Grade 4 or 5.
- Learners will need to have some knowledge of the place, and the names of some of the medicines or food.
- Learners will need to be familiar with medicines and food sources.
Delivery
- Beginning / Introduction: Introduce mapping
- Share my map made using sketch-noting
- Show a map with a legend
- Have students with pencils and paper and asked them to create icons for medicines or food sources

3. Walk around the land and show how to map and use icons.
